My name is Nancy Holt and I am the Artist behind Lady On The Lake Designs.  I started working with hot glass in 2005 when I took my first fusing class at a local bead shop in Vienna, VA but became addicted to hot glass after taking a lampwork class a month later.  My passion becam a full blown obsession as I studied the work of other hot glass artists.  The name Lady On The Lake Designs came to me as I was setting up my first glass studio at our weekend house at Lake Anna in Virginia.  I worked on glass work on the weekends and incorporated some of it into jewelry in the evenings during the week.  Here is a picture of me on my pontoon boat in November when I was taking a break from the torch.

I have three wonderful kids and a loving husband.  All three of my kids were born with Cystic Fibrosis.  My daughter, Jenny, passed away from this terrible disease in 2008 but we will never forget her courage and determination to live as much as she could before finally being taken by the Lord.  She has been a true inspiration to all who knew her and loved her.

My son Kurt is a computer nerd like me and would love to go into the network side of IT.  Unfortunately, CF keeps him in a hospital in Cleveland about 1/2 the year right now.  He does love the lake and jetskiing also when he gets the chance.  Having CF has not had as great an impact on my younger son, Evan, who is a college junior at Edinboro University in PA.  He is studying criminal justice and is hoping to get into law enforcement when he graduates.

In 2002 I was deployed to Bosnia in the role of an Inspector General to train Bosnian officers the US Inspector General system.  It was quite an exciting experience.  Here I am (first row) with my office mates and the commanding general of the Stabilization Forces (SFOR).
