Our Debut at the Virginia Renaissance Faire

Our first show was at the Virginia Renaissance Faire at the Lake Anna Winery during the Memorial Day weekend.  We set up a tent that was as Rennie as we could get it.  Joan and I dressed up in our period merchant clothes.  We were lucky to get a great spot in the shade of the woods.  We were behind the Pub tent and accross from the port-a-potties.  We just knew we would get a lot of traffic there and we did.  Plus we heard all of the acts that were performing at the Pub tent until we could almost sing a long with them.
In order to process credit cards we had to use our cell phones and I had this strange desire to say "Canst thou hear me now?"  Yes, I am a Verison customer.  We were close to the Alpaca enclosure and I found out why they hum.  Most would tell you its because they are nervous.  I think its just because they can't remember the words.  OK, that was really korny but that was the fun of the faire.  Everything was ending up in bad puns.

It was great fun and though we were not able to give a live demo on how to make lampwork glass beads we did simulate the process and talked about lampwork in the Renaissance period.  We are hoping to be able to do live demos next year at the faire.

Aren't we a couple of great looking shop wenches?  Here we are selling our wares.

Here is a picture of our tent from the front.  We had three tables set up with jewelry and lampwork beads.

Here is one of customers...another vendor.  It seems that Scots have a thing for sheep which is the bead is his hands that he bought.

Here are a couple of my furry neighbors that I loved to commune with every day.  I loved to listen to them hum.  Guess they just can't remember the words.

Here is the Queen with her court.  They were across the way from where we were.  They strolled by our tent several times a day.

This was the view from our tent.  The tent is the far background is where the Queen and her entourage hung out.
